New Heights Academy
A Specialized School for Students with Learning Differences
Is Your Child Struggling to Learn in a Traditional School Setting?
New Heights Academy is a specialized school designed for students in grades 1–12 with dyslexia and other learning differences. Our mission is to provide a structured, supportive educational environment where students receive individualized instruction tailored to how they learn best.
We serve students with dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, ADHD, and related learning differences who benefit from explicit, multisensory instruction and small class sizes. Using research-based teaching methods, we help students build strong academic skills, confidence, and independence.
When instruction does not align with a student’s learning profile, families may notice increasing frustration, anxiety, avoidance of schoolwork, or changes in emotional well-being.
At New Heights Academy, we believe that learning differences do not define a student’s potential. With the right instruction, understanding, and support, every learner can thrive and reach new heights..
Core Academics at New Heights Academy
New Heights Academy provides a comprehensive academic program that includes all core subject areas, with literacy serving as the foundation for learning across the curriculum.
Instruction is intentionally designed to support students with learning differences by using structured, multisensory, and hands-on approaches that promote understanding, engagement, and confidence.
Literacy (Reading and Writing)
Students receive explicit, systematic, and multisensory reading instruction through programs such as the Wilson Reading System®, Fundations®, and Just Words®. These programs support the development of strong decoding, spelling, fluency, and reading comprehension skills.
Writing instruction is supported through The Writing Revolution (TWR), which provides explicit, scaffolded strategies to help students develop clear, organized sentences, paragraphs, and written responses. Writing instruction is intentionally structured to reduce cognitive load while strengthening language skills and confidence.
To strengthen comprehension and expressive language, instruction also incorporates Story Grammar Marker® from MindWing Concepts®, a visual and structured approach that helps students understand story structure, organize ideas, and improve narrative and written expression.
Math
Math instruction emphasizes conceptual understanding and hands-on learning. We utilize Math-U-See® to support students in developing strong number sense, problem-solving skills, and confidence in mathematics.
Science
Science instruction is hands-on and experiential, allowing students to explore concepts through observation, experimentation, and discussion. This approach supports curiosity, comprehension, and meaningful learning.
History/Social Studies
Literacy instruction is a central focus of our program and is delivered using structured, evidence-based approaches aligned with the Orton-Gillingham methodology.
Instruction is paced to meet individual needs and includes multisensory strategies to support learners with dyscalculia and math-related challenges.
History and social studies instruction focuses on building understanding through discussion, visual supports, projects, and real-world connections. Instruction is designed to reduce reading overload while supporting comprehension and critical thinking.
By integrating strong literacy instruction with meaningful learning across subject areas, New Heights Academy supports the whole child—academically, emotionally, and socially.
